Gorillas Through The Mist

Arrive at the Kigali International Airport to be greeted by our representative. From here, you’ll board a safari vehicle for your transfer to the Virunga Conservation Area, home to the highest population of mountain gorillas, in time for lunch. Time permitting; you will be encouraged to explore the villages and local markets as well as the stunning twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Overnight stay at the lodge on full-board basis.
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge:
Bordering the Volcanoes National Park, the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge finds itself perfectly situated for spotting the famous gorillas in Rwanda as well as for the stunning visuals of the volcanoes. Comprised by 30 individual stone and thatch cottages, the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge covers 4 acres of land on the slopes of Mt Sabinyo. Volcanoes National Park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains and is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas as well as golden monkeys. Also the home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains, the park allows for regulated treks to spend time with its popular inhabitants as well as for exploration of the famous volcanoes.
Be transferred to the office of Volcanoes National Park in the morning after breakfast. Pay heed to park guide’s instructions on the expecta nt behaviour in the jungle and in the presence of mountain gorillas. After a slightly bumpy ride to the beginning of the trek, hike for 10-20 minutes through fields to reach the periphery of the forest. After entering the park, you begin your gorilla spotting trek till noon. Guests are advised to carry water bottles along with zip lock bags and rainproof-clothing as it can rain anytime here. Photography is allowed; make sure you have reliable cameras handy. Return to your hotel for lunch. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kigali.
