Sumatran Rainforest Experience

Upon arrival at Kualanamy International Airport, meet your guide and begin the drive northeast on a scenic toll road, passing picturesque views of oil palm plantations and cultivated fields. You will head towards Stabat, the administrative and commercial hub of Langkat Regency, once a wealthy Malay Muslim Sultanate that prospered through rubber plantations and the discovery of oil. As you continue, cross a wide river and enter a quieter road lined with oil palm and rubber plantations, leading you towards Tangkahan, also known as the “Hidden Paradis e.” Tangkahan offers a secluded, natural landscape within the UNESCO-listed Gunung Leuser National Park, where you can experience ecotourism efforts focused on wildlife conservation. Visit a small elephant sanctuary near the park and experience bathing the elephants in the river, followed by a walk with the herd through lush meadows where they graze. Afterward, take a scenic jeep ride through plantations, enjoying stunning views of the Bukit Barisan mountains, before heading to Bukit Lawang. This village, located at the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park is known for its rainforest and wildlife including the critically endangered orangutan. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.

Embark on a trek through the rainforest with a local guide, following winding trails in search of orangutans and other wildlife and observing the rich flora of the national park. After the trek, return to the hotel to freshen up and then head south to Binjai, a small town where the landscape shifts from jungle to cultivated land. Continue to the Kualanamu Airport for your onward flight.
